High Demand for Property with Access to Outdoor Space
Following a recent YouGov survey of 2,180 adults in the UK commissioned by Paymentshield, 19% are looking to move home in the next 2 years to gain access to outdoor space.
The top two reasons for moving were to move to a property with more green space and a property with more green surroundings.
According to the market study, the top ten most common reasons why people would be likely to move home in the next two years are:
- Move to a property with more green space = 15%
- Move to a location with more green surroundings = 12%
- Save money = 11%
- Move to a smaller home = 9%
- New location for work = 8%
- Bigger home to accommodate a growing family = 8%
- Change in relationship status = 8%
- Larger home to accommodate home working = 7%
- Move to a more sustainable building = 6%
- Move in with family = 2%

Post COVID Property Demands
Around 65% of workers are set to return to the office in June with many companies adopting flexible working with part of the week in the office and part working from home. Having a home that has enough space to work from home, as well as being close to the office in addition to having access to outdoor space is essential.
New developments such as Ancoats Gardens in Manchester are catering for these exacting demands, with balconies providing private outdoor space, in addition to two roof top gardens and a ground floor garden for its residents.
